Genitive Ink is a print magazine subscription service operated by Aahnix LLC. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.

Information we collect

• Account information: email address and password (hashed)
• Shipping address: name, street address, city, state, ZIP code, phone number
• Payment information: processed by Stripe; we do not store card numbers
• Newsletter preferences: URLs and email sources you add to your account
• Email content: forwarded newsletter emails are processed to generate your magazine
• Gmail data: if you connect your Google account, we read newsletter emails from specific senders you select (via the gmail.readonly scope)
• Usage data: pages visited, feature usage, error logs

How we use your information

• Generate and deliver your personalised print magazine
• Process payments and manage your subscription
• Send transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates, payment failures)
• Improve the service and fix bugs

We do not use your data for advertising (the service is ad-free), profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the Genitive Ink service.

Google API data

If you connect your Gmail account, Genitive Ink accesses your inbox using the gmail.readonly scope to fetch emails only from the specific newsletter senders you choose. We extract article text and metadata (title, date, word count) from these emails to generate your magazine. Raw email content is not retained after extraction.

Genitive Ink's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

• Gmail data is used solely to generate your personal magazine
• Gmail data is never sold, used for advertising, or transferred to third parties unrelated to the core service
• Gmail data is not used to build user profiles for unrelated purposes
• You can disconnect your Gmail account and delete all extracted data at any time

Third-party services

We share necessary data with the following services:

• Stripe (payment processing)
• Lulu (print fulfillment — receives your shipping address and magazine PDF)
• Amazon Web Services (file storage and email processing)
• Cloudflare (DNS, CDN, and email routing)
• Google (Gmail OAuth, if you connect your inbox)
• Sentry (error tracking — no personal data sent)

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Newsletter content is retained for 90 days after generation. You may request deletion of your account and data at any time.

Your rights

You may request to:

• Access your personal data
• Export your data in a machine-readable format
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Correct inaccurate information

Cookies

We use essential cookies only (authentication tokens stored in httpOnly cookies). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Security

We use HTTPS encryption for all connections, bcrypt password hashing, encrypted OAuth tokens at rest, and access controls on all stored data. Despite these measures, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

Children

Genitive Ink is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
